Key Groups at Riverside
What are Key Groups?
Key Groups are Kingdom Engaged groups Yielded to the will of God. They are small groups that are focused on the following five principles: Bible Study, Prayer, Fellowship, Evangelism and Missions.
Are Key Groups replacing Sunday School?
Not really. Current Sunday School classes will continue to meet and function, they are not being replaced. However, the structure and focus will change. First, current Sunday School classes will move into the Key Group Structure and will live out Acts 2 in devotion to studying God’s Word, building community, intentional in prayer and seeking to be transformative in being evangelistic and Missional. Second, there are some members of Riverside Baptist Church who work on Sundays, therefore the current Sunday School structure won’t enable them to be part of Sunday School in the classic sense. The Key Group structure will enable such persons to meet outside of the typical Sunday morning times and be part of a smaller community of believers.
How are Key Groups structured?
Each Key Group will have: a Teacher/Facilitator who leads in Bible Study; a Prayer Care Leader/Coordinator; an Outreach Leader; a Fellowship Leader, and a Secretary/Records Coordinator. Ideally, the Prayer Care Leader will be a deacon, deacon wife, or someone assisted by a deacon/deacon wife.
The global Key Group structure will comprise of: the Senior Pastor, the Director of Key Groups, the Chair of Deacons, the Chair of Missions, an Outreach Coordinator and a Fellowship Coordinator.
Who are Key Groups for?
Key Groups are for anyone who desires to follow Christ and be part of the Riverside Baptist Church community and the Riverside Journey. If you are a member of Riverside, you will be part of a Key Group. This will happen on one of three ways: Your current small group/Sunday School class will transition into the Key Group Structure; you join an existing group; you get assigned to a group.
