Swine flu update
You are all aware by now of the new strain of the flu that is becoming a global concern. This is so because humans have not yet developed a natural resistance to this new type of swine flu, therefore all who are exposed to this virus are susceptible to its effects on our bodies. There is cause for concern.
Here at Riverside Baptist Church we are trying to be as proactive as possible in minimizing the risk of the spread of this flu virus on our campus. Each day we have hundreds of persons walking our halls, from children to adults. As a result, the Child Development Center, and the Sunday School common areas are being disinfected daily (as has always been the case), but we are being more vigilant and intentional in our efforts to this end.
In the mean time, here are some things we can all do regarding this outbreak:
- Pray: Pray that God will arrest the spread of this outbreak and that illnesses and fatalities related to the swine flu will be minimal.
- Don’t panic; be informed: It is easy to have our concern elevated to alarm and then to panic. However, the best antidote is information. Listen to the news; follow the Centers for Disease Control swine flu bulletins and advisories.
- Use common sense: If you feel like you have the flu, or are displaying flu-like symptoms, visit your health care professional and stay home so that others aren’t exposed. Wash hands frequently, and cover mouths when coughing and sneezing.
We want you to know that we are actively monitoring the news and we encourage you to do the same so that we may be informed and educated.
