Dare to Give Thanks

Always Thankful

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

 

Ephesians 5:20, Colossians 2:6–7, Colossians 3:17, Colossians 4:2,

 

  • To be always thankful:

 

  1. Find your joy in God (v 16)

 

·      True joy is found in God: (Psalm 16:11, Psalm 28:7, Psalm 37:4, Psalm 43:4, Psalm 89:15–16, Nehemiah 8:10, Philippians 3:3, 1 Peter 1:8)

·      When we pursue God over everything else, we experience a deep inner joy that comes from the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17, Gal. 5:22)

·      How do we pursue this kind of a relationship with God?

a)      Hear God

b)      Talk to God

c)      Participate in His body

 

  1. Present your problems to God (v 17)

 

·         When you pray without ceasing, you can rejoice always and give thanks in all circumstances: (Philippians 4:6–7, 1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 34:4–7)

 

  1. Entrust your circumstances to God (v 18)

a)      In every circumstance there is good (Psalm 145:9)

b)      In every circumstance God is working for your good (Romans 8:28)
